Awesome band + beautiful details + fun friends & family = reception perfection.
Cyndea and I were actually very disappointed for the wedding to end. Sure our feet and backs hurt after hours of shooting, but we were having too much fun ourselves. We were also treated like part of the family by the Langleys, which was never expected but so appreciated!
And watching Lisa and Daniel throughout the day was so fun. I loved seeing the note he wrote her scrawled on some random piece of paper that was delivered to her while the girls were getting ready. And then the expression on his face as she walked down the aisle....awesome. Always one of my favorite parts. When I'm a guest at a wedding I usually miss the bride walking down the aisle because I'm craning my neck to get a glimpse of the groom's face. I just love it.....so sweet. I'm a sap, I know.
I loved watching Lisa and Daniel occasionally crack up for some reason while dancing. It made me so happy to see they are not only in love, but have so much fun together. That's so important!
Once again.....love. this. couple.
What torture it is for photographers to only be able to share a limited number of photos on the blog. Maybe I'll start doing slide shows on here....eventually. Here are just a few of the million fun pics from the reception......

Wow. I never realized how fun it would be to photograph a rehearsal dinner. Just getting to know the couple on a different level is really cool. I loved hearing the stories, getting to know more family and friends, and even shed some tears myself. I'm a sucker for a good toast, and there were some awesome ones that night (both funny and sweet). I loved hearing even more background on Lisa and Daniel's "story".....and what a sweet one it is!

It says a lot about a person when you see how great their family and friends are. Not that I didn't already know it, but it made me love this couple even more after meeting all of them. The Charbonnets and Langleys definitely did something right and raised some awesome, godly kids.

We have officially made our first debut in a magazine. The recent wedding of Kristina & Dave (see part 1, part 2, part 3 on the blog) was shown in the latest issue of San Antonio Weddings magazine! How cool is that? And I feel like I know celebrities now :)
We also have photos from Cynthia and Bobby's wedding featured as well!

Two weddings in one magazine! I'm honored to have photos in there, but really just excited for these couples. So fun!

I first met Lisa when she was in high school, while she was visiting her sister (my roommate) in college. I'm pretty sure she said all of two words the whole time. She was a tiny, sweet little thing....but oh so shy (at least around me).
And now, still tiny and sweet, she's transformed into this beautiful woman with an infectious personality. She's pretty, funny, and genuine. One of the funniest moments to me of the whole wedding weekend was when I asked her if she wanted to do something for a picture and she replied (in her sweet voice) "yeah, probably not". I couldn't help but die laughing inside, knowing she was like, "Cat, come on....do you really think I want to do that in my wedding dress?"
I still laugh to myself just thinking about her reaction.
Back to the bridal portraits. She stunning. Beauty on the outside + a heart for the Lord = quite a catch!
Way to go Daniel :)
We took these bridals in the INSANELY humid city of Houston. She held up very well in that heat....until we all decided it was torture and we were crazy for still being outside!

STUNNING!

Not only did I get to photograph the wedding of this awesome couple, but was asked to capture the rehearsal dinner as well. And I'm sooo thankful for that! I loved getting another glimpse into their lives.

I FINALLY get to show off this pretty girl now that she's off the market.
Wedding dress with pockets? Awesome.
And I loved having her older sister, Val, help make sure every detail was perfect (for the wedding too). This picture is just too cute....

What a fun reception! One of the many reasons I love receptions is all the fun dancing. I am always so entertained, and this wedding had some fun people and great dancing (even a little "Thriller" action).
But my favorite part may have been the mariachis. They were awesome....and I know mariachis. Being from San Antonio and attending more than a million Fiesta events (as well as eating Mexican food regularly), I've been exposed to more than a few mariachi bands. This one was by far my favorite!
And I love that they were the (Canadian) groom's request :)

Nice pics and congrats to Jessica and Jaime! I'm actually one of the violinists in Mariachi Tamazula, the mariachi that played at the wedding. Thanks for the compliments! We play quite a few weddings, and I have to say they were probably one of my favorite couples to see. Lots of love there!

So maybe I just have sugar on my mind....two posts back to back on cakes? But I just had to go into more detail on this new vendor I've found.
The owner of Wicked Cakes, Nicole McGarry, is not only responsive (which always makes me immediately like someone) but such a nice person. We are only email friends since we somehow missed each other at the last wedding. But I can tell I like her already!
I was especially intrigued by Nicole's background (computer engineering...what?). And now she runs a cake business! It's so cool to see someone doing what they are passionate about even if it means going in a completely different direction. She has always been a baker, and decided (just a couple years ago) to fine-tune her decorative skills and develop her recipes.
And now she's been in business for over a year!
Nicole loves being a part of her client's big celebration, and is honored to be able to create a centerpiece for happy occasions. One of her favorite parts is delivering the cake.....and I bet that IS fun! It's kinda like being a flower delivery person - everyone is happy to see you! And personally, I would be very excited as soon as the sugar arrived (there I go again....sugar on the brain).
Check out Wicked Cakes online.
.......and I think I'll go eat some M&Ms now.

So this one is up there with my top favorite cakes. I just love the texture of the flowers. So pretty!
Every time I walked by, I was so tempted to touch it. But I don't think that would have been very professional of me :) Now I see why my two yr-old has the same struggle. Cakes just need to be messed with sometimes. But maybe not this one....

I loved this whole wedding. It had a great mix of natural beauty, fun people, a laid-back atmosphere, and well, love! From the first sight, to the ceremony, to toasts and first dances....it was very cool.
The reception was held in and around a large barn built just in time for the wedding. The lighting and decor really warmed up the huge metal building and made it the perfect spot for a ranch wedding reception. Tracy and her crew from the French Connection did an awesome job!

A few favorites from the reception:
the bonfire, all the mason jars, the music, and the fact that the
"wedding cake" was homemade pie. It all fit Kristina and Dave very well. What a fun night!

The ceremony took place at the water's edge, on a dock built just for this special day. The view was perfect, the weather just right, and the occasion memorable.
The maid of honor provided all of the ceremony music, playing her fiddle as she walked down the aisle. And both bride and groom were walked down by both of their parents. It was a sweet ceremony and I loved seeing the participation of the guests. There was even a mini canon fired at the end (courtesy of the groom's uncle)!

The last part of the wedding day is still to come. All I will say for now.....live band, homemade pie, and a bonfire. How cool is that?!

I love that this couple got married on the groom's family's ranch. It made it so much more personal and relaxed. When I showed up, I was almost thrown off a little by how calm and laid-back everyone was. The family and close friends were all hanging out around the house and on the porch just having a good time and enjoying quality time together. No one was rushing or scurrying around to finish last minute details. They were all so chill!
That is one of the coolest things about your wedding day. You get to have all your closest friends and family in one place to celebrate with you. That rocks!

Then off to the highest point on the ranch for more sweet photos and a great view. I love seeing the bride's and groom's faces when they first see each other. It's such a great, emotion-filled time. Whether it's walking down the aisle or just a few minutes alone before all the festivities begin...it's so sweet every time.
I loved the way Dave looked at Kristina. You could tell he is crazy about her. I'm pretty sure he never took his eyes off her....but who would? She looked awesome!

I absolutely loved this shoot. I had been looking forward to it for months. After doing Jessica and Jamie's engagement pics, I knew she would be a beautiful bride. And so natural! I barely had to give her any kind of instruction the whole time. She just did her thing and it was perfect. It made my job a breeze!
I love the setting for these photos. It worked out so perfectly with her dress and style.

She is not only stunning, but so fun to work with. I loved getting to know her better over the past several months. And her wedding was a blast! I can't wait to share those soon too!

I LOOOOOVE these bridals. And when I share the rest, y'all will totally agree! I was looking forward to this shoot from the day I took Jessica and Jamie's engagement pictures. She is just one of those people who are, first of all, photogenic, and second, just know how to work the camera. Haha....hope that totally embarrasses her! But I just couldn't get over how natural and comfortable she was (or even if she wasn't, she sure seemed like she was a pro)! I really didn't even have to tell her a thing.....just let her rock that camera.
Absolute beauty here....and this isn't even in my top favorites...
