We’re all partied out over here and taking a little time off from work, the blog, and hopefully the computer in general!

But we’re thankful for all of our super cool clients, our families, and our friends who have all taken part in helping us and supporting us as we’ve continued to grow.  What a year it has been!

Merry Christmas to y’all!  And may you not forget the One who was born on this very special day!

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.  This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Luke 2:11-12

The girls at Southern Weddings did a fantastic job putting together their Blue Ribbon Vendors directory.  We are just thankful to be included in it!

Check it out!

Big news for my little family……we are moving.  Again, no joke.  But just a few miles from here and into a permanent place of our own.  So this also means a new office for Peacock Photography….woohoo!

So with about 4 weeks until D-day, I’m going full speed until either this baby comes out or I collapse (not really…I hope).  To say we have a little “project” on our hands would be the understatement of the year.  We started working on the house this past weekend and have put in quite a lot of hours painting to get ready for the move in a couple weeks.  It has been a little insane, but a ton of fun staying up until crazy hours with Dave, listening to music and painting like mad.  Our “date nights” have definitely been memorable already and I’m so thankful to have such a great partner in this adventure.  I know I’m a little crazy and a little over-ambitious with some of my plans….but so far so good.  Let’s just hope all this activity doesn’t put me into labor anytime soon!

I would love to share more of the “before” photos of the rest of the house, but I can’t bring myself to share them until I have the “after” ready.  Some are just too painful at this stage to share :)  But I will give a peek of our new office space.  The paisley wallpaper won’t stay, don’t worry.  After about five minutes in there you will get a headache just from looking at it.  And the pink living room in the background is already a nice gray.  Because who in the WORLD wants a pink living room???

Once we get these floors refinished and furniture moved in, I’ll share the final product.  Right now it’s time to get back to some major catching up for clients on my afternoon off from the general contractor job (more on THAT adventure later).

07.26.11

Well, since the news has leaked and it’s now a reality, I thought it was time to OFFICIALLY let everyone know what all is happening over here at Peacock Photography.

We recently moved to San Antonio!  That’s right….MOVED.  Exciting and crazy scary all at the same time.  For the business, it doesn’t mean too much.  We have always done about 50% of our business in San Antonio already.  So we plan to just keep chugging along, and will continue taking weddings wherever.  I am looking forward to getting to know the SA market and other vendors even better now.  I love that the relationships we already do have here will be able to grow even more.  We have worked with some very talented people already!

We will, however, still have Kate working out of Austin and we will ALSO have Cyndea operating out of Fredericksburg (yep, she and her family have moved too!).  LOTS of changes going on around here.

In addition…….(drumroll please)……….

Cyndea is also having another baby!!!!!!  We are due exactly 4 months apart (which is pretty stinking cool since our first 2 kids are each 4 months and 3 months apart).  We also got married 3 months apart.  It’s weird, we know :)  It was a nice little “surprise” for everyone and I’m so pumped for them.

MORE updates……Cyndea is taking her own weddings now (as well as Kate who just shot our brother’s wedding a couple months ago….which will be blogged soon).  These two will become especially handy as I get larger and larger in the fall.  We just couldn’t say “no” to a few clients’ weddings that we are really excited about in October (when I’m going to be waddling around).

So back to moving.  It was always something Dave and I were considering, but the longer we lived in Austin, the more I fell in love with that town.  Seriously, it rocks.  But after LOTS of prayer and Godly counsel, we decided to make the move for our family.  It was definitely a leap of faith putting our house on the market with no house to move into in San Antonio.  But once again, God has totally provided.

We were incredibly sad to leave our friends and neighbors in Austin.  But we are pumped to be closer to our families.  Of course there are many pros and cons to leaving Austin and moving to San Antonio.  But after more than a year of prayer and seeking God’s direction, we are confident in our decision to start this next phase of our lives in a new place…..a place that has always been “home” to both Dave and me, but will now be where we hopefully spend the rest of our lives.

As well as moving cities, David and a friend have recently left their jobs to start their own law firm.  Check it out: Garcia & Hornberger, LLP.  It has been so awesome to see them both so excited about this new venture.  We would not have made these crazy life changes without feeling like God was calling us in this direction, and having that decision affirmed through our supportive community is pretty awesome.

Now begins a new phase of our lives. And after the dust has settled and we get a little more organized, I hope to be back to “normal”….if there is such a thing!  So bear with us as we get all the Spring/Summer weddings edited and blogged.  So much is piling up I can barely breathe some days.  But as we work through the new structure of the business and get our new routines going, we hope to soon be going full steam again.  In the meantime, notice our contact info has changed a little.

Emails are still the same:

NEW OFFICE #: (210) 446.4295

My cell is still the same for clients who need to reach me directly (but I plan to only give that out to current clients).  All new inquiries can go through email and the new office number.  For our mailing address, email me!

Please keep us in your prayers as we all adjust to a new city, new schools, new routines, and a new job for Dave!  And if you made it to the end of this incredibly long post, thank you.  We value our friends and client relationships more than you all realize!

This still cracks me up every time I look at it.  Cyndea is always willing to help out our clients and carry miscellaneous plastic bags, purses, and bouquets if needed.

And I never laugh at her.  Me?  Laugh at Cyndea?  Never ;)

04.18.11

So I’ve been sorta MIA lately.  I’ve rarely posted on Facebook, and even rarer has been my time spent on Twitter.  The only thing that as kept me “connected” has been the minimum updates on the blog and occasional Instagram photos.  I’ve been living by the rule: “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all”.  I made it my goal to not complain on any type of social media during my first trimester of pregnancy.  There is nothing more annoying than people complaining about being sick on Facebook.  One comment and it’s no biggie, but the constant whining will make me want to de-friend you!  Ok not really, but I might hide you from my feed :)  Or maybe just roll my eyes.

And since I haven’t had much on my mind besides the fact that my insides want to be on the outside….I’ve kept my posts to a minimum (for everyone else’s sake)!  Thanks to the wonderful Kate, the business has continued to survive through the past 5 or 6 weeks.  I’m just maintaining the email craziness and trying to keep the blog somewhat current.  And using every other ounce of energy to be the best mom I can possibly be when all I really want to do is curl up in my bed and watch movie marathons until this trimester is over.

I’m also officially drinking Diet Dr. Pepper again…I’m weak.  But the carbonation is a life-saver!  So don’t judge.

At first I was feeling sorry for myself, wondering why I had to get the “evening/night” sickness again.  At least with morning sickness you get it over with in the morning, right?  Well, my wonderful, amazing, saint of a husband quickly reminded me how much worse it would be if I was sick all morning while he was at work.  Instead, I start feeling bad right before he gets home….and it continues to get worse until I finally fall asleep.  It sucks for him, but now I realize it is WAY better this way with him here to help me!  And there aren’t even words to express how thankful I am for him serving me every second he is home.  He continues to blow me away with his selflessness.

Now on to the next “fun” bit of news….

Yeah, crutches are sooooo not cool.  But hopefully after an appt with a foot doc tomorrow, I’ll have some answers.  Even though this really stinks on top of first trimester fun and the fact that a photographer really can’t take photos on crutches….I have to say it came at the perfect time.  My big toe “problem” (a.k.a. throbbing, swelling, and sharp pain through my foot) started the day after our last wedding.  And now we have several weeks off before our next wedding.  Thank you Lord for the good timing!!  And thankfully Cyndea is going to drive in to help with some shoots I can’t reschedule.  But wow, this is literally the only time this year it won’t really mess us up.  But please keep my toe in your prayers.  The last thing a pregnant wedding photographer (AND MOM!) needs is to be on crutches.

It sure makes disciplining your children very interesting.  I think Travis is just laughing on the inside as I literally hop towards him to tell him he is in trouble.  I know I have to fight the smile myself just thinking about how silly I must look.

And finally, a few photos to brighten up this rather bummer of a blog post.  Our sweet little Hallie looked so adorable in her sun hat this weekend at the coast.  I had to share a few pics Dave took.  Don’t you want to just eat her up??

That’s right, baby #3 is en route!  It’s still pretty early (somewhere in the 8-9 week range), but since the news has already been leaked….we decided to make it official on the blog.  (The blog that I have been neglecting due to first trimester “fun”).  Seriously, this pregnancy is kicking my tail.  But hopefully I can keep up with the help of Kate.  Once again, she is a lifesaver.

What does this mean for the business?  Well, thankfully this baby is due right at a perfect time. We will actually not have to cancel a thing so far! Praise the Lord! I will just be rather large at most of the weddings this summer and early fall. In fact, part of the reason we needed to tell people is that I’m already starting to show a little. I can still hide it, but yikes…..was NOT expecting it already.

We would love prayers as we finish out this first trimester (both for the baby’s and my health….and for David’s sanity as I ask more of him than I probably should)…..and of course throughout the rest of the pregnancy. And I ask for patience from my awesome clients as I battle this exhaustion and nausea while trying to keep up with work and emails (especially the emails!)….on top of daily life with 2 munchkins. Hopefully no one will see a difference, but if you notice my response taking a little longer….forgive me!

Other than all that, we are thankful.

We are thankful and blessed, and excited that God decided to entrust us with another one of His children.

Wow….it is ABOUT TIME I finally give this girl some credit!  Kate has been working for me since early February and I’m just now introducing her…geez.

I debated for about 6 months whether or not I wanted to hire someone.  I knew I needed the help desperately, but I was so afraid of committing to a person that would be at my house all the time, around my kids, going through business stuff, etc.  I was so unsure for so long.  But finally, after prayer and talking through it with Dave, I made the plunge.

Best. Decision. Ever.

I have so much more time to be the mom/wife I’ve been wanting to be for the past 2 years….and I haven’t felt overwhelmed with my workload in weeks!  It is so freeing to be able to let go of some control.  And Kate is an editing fool.  I’m so thankful so could just jump right in there from the beginning.  She has even taught me some computer tricks recently (I feel like an old lady for not knowing)!  She is amazing.  She is also one of the cutest, most beautiful people I know.  With an art background, she just has that cool factor about her.

And I want her hair.  Maybe I’m just going through long hair withdrawal….but if she ever falls asleep at my computer, I might consider stealing it.  Did I just type that??

Anyway, she is awesome and such a joy to have around.  Dave jokes that I really hired her just to have a friend come over 3 days a week.  I won’t lie….a quick errand yesterday turned into and hour and a half trip around Austin, detouring at the best burger place EVER….P. Terry’s.  I even ate it again for dinner.

ps….she even drinks coffee out of cool, artsy coffee mugs.  If I was in college, she might just be my idol (ok, so maybe she kinda is anyway).

This is my good friend, Louisa.  She has been helping me off and on for about a year now (off when she had a baby).  She shot 2 weddings with me last Spring, and has been a HUGE help with various business projects and shoots this past year.  She is one of those people who never even knows how crucial they are for you (even with little things).

I had to FINALLY give her a shout out.  She is AMAZING and I’m so thankful to have her helping me with so much of business side of things. Sometimes she just helps me think straight (which is HUGE).  And other times she does even the most un-fun projects….and rocks it.  She takes a simple task and improves it every time.  She. Is. Awesome.

She also has an adorable little boy who came over to play.  How could I not take photos of Colton’s cuteness??

One more of this BEAUTIFUL mama!

02.16.11

If I could just put into words the craziness I’ve experienced the past few days…..oh my word.  It’s not the number of kids (which is 4) that is difficult, it’s the conflicting personalities of the oldest two that are driving me to near insanity.  But what an experience it has been!  I’m thankful for some quality time with me nephews (even if Dea is getting to live it up on tropical islands and drink daquiris all day)!  Seriously though, she deserves it.

And since I’ve had NO TIME to work, I’m putting off part 2 of Christine and Phil’s wedding until tomorrow….sorry guys! (even though you’ve already seen your pics….I just didn’t want y’all to not feel loved)

BUT, I do want to share a few pics from a good friend Wynne who is a photographer in Midland.  She also took my family’s Christmas pics this year.  She is awesome and such a joy to be with!  Cyndea and I had a great time laughing at ourselves and struggling on the other side of the camera.  Seriously, we are soooo awkward in front of the camera!  But I think it’s good for us to experience that, and understand how our clients sometimes feel during a shoot.  Plus, we needed updated pics for the blog….yes, we will finally have faces on here!

go HERE to check them out!
